Spring Baseball

Andrew and Ashley are playing Spring baseball again this year and are on the same team. Our team is made up of half first graders, half kindergartners, and one sweet preschooler: Ashley. We have 8 boys and 2 girls. Go Grasshoppers! Andrew's first up to bat of the season!
This age group is technically still T-Ball but, each kid gets to try to hit a few times from overhand coach pitch and if they don't get a hit then they try off the T. Each game is usually 2 innings. Andrew is a pretty good hitter and hit the pitch all except a couple times. He is a lefty and is hard to pitch to but, he did great. Ashley couldn't hit the pitch the first several games but, did great off the T. Then, Dave started standing in the catcher's place and telling her to "Swing!" right when the ball left the coaches hand. She isn't very strong and her swing is slow, so it takes about that long to get the bat around but, she is very good at watching the ball and she hit the ball. The first time I screamed so loud that poor baby Katie was scared to death and cried and cried. Ashley has hit the pitch every time in about the last 5 games, she just needs to choke up a bit and hear us tell her when to start that swing! It's a thrill!
Andrew likes being up to bat and he likes being in the outfield too. Ashley likes being up to bat but, when they're out she is usually laying down, spinning in circles or just being a complete goof.
We have 2 games a week which has made for an extra busy month but, they really have a great time and have worked hard. We are extra lucky to have an awesome coach too.
