This year we started our drive to Newport Beach much earlier in the morning than usual. It was a huge blessing that we did. When we got to Victorville there was a huge fire that closed the freeway, just seconds before we arrived. Had we made it on the freeway we'd have been stuck in a complete jam for hours, then evacuated from our car (because the fire jumped the freeway and burned several cars and houses, luckily no one was hurt) and made to stay the night, like the miles and miles of cars just ahead of us. Instead, we were one of the first cars made to exit the freeway. There was no easy alternative so, we followed the map on our phones that led us four wheeling down a thin, dirt road for miles. We were completely alone. The road ended at train tracks and a chained road closed gate. Luckily, a train worker was there and opened the gate for us to let us cross the tracks and get to a real road.
Once we got back on the freeway we were nearly alone again since all the backup was behind us. The other side of the freeway looked like a parking lot, while we drove for miles and miles nearly all alone.
When we got to our hotel we turned on the news and felt even more grateful to have been guided and protected, and so grateful that each child was calm during it all, to which helped us to be able to feel calm too. Heavenly Father is in the details of our lives.

We had a few minutes and then we were off to the Angels Game! We looked like ragamuffins after a whole day in the car. The game was fun but, slow for a long time, 0-0, then Andrew's favorite player, Mike Trout, was up to bat. He hit a walk-off home run to end the game. It was so fun!
World's grossest hot dogs. We were all starved but only Andrew could stomach them.
Girls Selfie! How lucky am I to have these 3 girls?!
My wonderful, handsome boys. And how lucky am I to have these 3?!
