Newport Beach 2010

Oh how I love Newport Beach! This year our trip seemed to go by way too quickly and I'm about ready to start the countdown to next year already. The weather was overcast and chilly the first several days, which never happens. We were so happy when the sun came out that we all got sunburned! Luckily, the last few days were perfectly sunny. The drive was even pretty easy. The kids loved...ev-er-y-thing!
What's not to love about the beach!?!
Both kids loved the water and waves. They ran in and out all day and were more and more daring each day.
Andrew really loved "surfing". Dave was a good sport and didn't let on to Andrew that it was actually a lot of work on his part; Andrew couldn't get enough.
Ashley liked showing off the seashells she collected and what she really liked finding was seaweed, seriously.
Practicing for another awesome surfing adventure
The cousins: Ashley, Lizzie, Andrew, Joe and Callie (I can't remember why baby William isn't here). Such great buddies.
Ashley and Will
All the kids loved going under the Newport Pier because it's the best spot to catch sandcrabs.
By the end of the week they could all catch them easily and liked to hold them too. The kids would bring them back and torment them in buckets all afternoon.
Showing off his ninja moves
The picture below makes me happy
When they play hard they sure do get tired! Andrew was champion sleeper on this trip; can you see his little head of brown hair popping out of the pile of towels? In years past Dave and I have had to take turns each afternoon spending hours in the beach house while little ones nap but, not this year! Andrew loved sleeping in this beach tent all but one day and Ashley fell asleep in my arms each afternoon while I relaxed in a beach chair. It was perfect!
The annual Price Family Horse Shoe Tournament. Rich took the trophy home this year.
One morning we took a short drive to the wedge to see the extra big waves
Back to the yellow house after Church.
The girls in blue. SO cute and SO silly! Ashley adores her Lizzie and Callie.
Ashley refuses to do anything that is baby-ish so I should've known she wouldn't sleep in the crib if Andrew got to sleep on the floor. They slept side by side on the floor in our room each night and did really well. Ashley loved being so big! Now that we're home they both ask if Ashley can sleep in Andrew's bed most nights.
We love the donut shop and long walks on the boardwalk. This year we had a lot of fun going for walks after dark on the pier to see the fisherman. The kids would lean over each person's bucket searching for caught fish. They were so excited each and every time they found fish.
Cute little sunburned face
