We brought 2 cars in case the littler kids finished earlier than the big. The river bank was difficult to be on and so the little kids and I left while Papa, Dave, Andrew and Ashley kept fishing a little longer.

A visit to Uncle Russ for a Dentist checkup. No cavities for anyone this time!
A trip to the Utah Museum of Natural History, or Dino Museum. Passes for most of us thanks to our Library Community Exploration pass that we had in August.
After the Dinosaur Museum we stopped at the Laird Street park for a little bit.
More tennis. I think these two could be great tennis players but, with all their other sports and interests it can't fit in so, they do about 4 weeks worth of lessons each summer at the rec center for some basic exposure to the sport.

Katie had a favorite book that looked just like this book but less than half the size of this book. She took it with us to Newport and Nathan and Charlie played with it and ripped it up. She was devastated. When we got home I ordered her a new one. When it arrived it was huge but, she loved it so much!

We also had passes to the Tracy Aviary because of our Library Pass. We all really enjoyed this outing.
We headed to the beautiful Albion Basin area for a night of camping. We got a great site and had so much fun exploring, going for a hike, roasting hotdogs and marshmallows in a fire, sleeping in tents and being together.
The quote of the campout story...Andrew needed to go to the bathroom. Dave walked him over to the bathroom that was just across the way. Andrew said something like, I can't go in there, the sign says 'No Dumping'! We laughed and laughed and had to teach him that dumping means putting garbage in, not going poop.
We forgot to pack one thing; a backpack. For our hike we carried our water and such in a pillow case. We looked like real hobos. We took turns carrying it and I felt embarrassed each time other hikers passed us. It was so funny.

Andrew and Ashley are close friends. Sometimes they fight. Sometimes Andrew picks on her too much or wants his space. Ashley is his biggest fan and loves him. He loves her too but, isn't as comfortable showing it. One night they both fell asleep reading in his bed and I took this picture in the morning.

Backyard slip n slide
I had Andrew and Ashley do one early morning session of swim lessons with Alexa, just to brush up on their strokes and to attempt to get in the habit of waking up for school. They had fun and Hailey always jumped in for the last 3 minutes for a quick swim.

We babysat the Wharton's dog, Jackie, for a few days. The kids loved having another dog and we got to use the pool even more.

Cherry Hill Day. Andrew brought Luke C and Ashley brought Ivy W. It was a fun day until near the end when it turned cold with wind and even some rain and we rushed out.

A morning at the Sandy Splash Pad. We met the Chipman family there so Ashley played with Teagan, Hailey with Haddie and Katie with Wrenly, and Andrew brought Charlie P.
We had free passes to the Children's Museum in August as well because of our library community exploration pass. We love this museum and visit once a year with the library pass. We stayed several hours and they could've stayed another couple.

I took Andrew, Ashley, Hailey, Kate and June for a Sunday afternoon bike ride and walk to Skyline to play tennis. Dave stayed home with napping Nathan. Right when we got there the sky turned dark and we were stuck in a torrential downpour of rain. The girls were near hysterical and we hid under a tiny tree and called Dave but, my phone was wet and wasn't working so I couldn't hear him at all. Luckily, he could hear me and was already driving to our rescue anyway. We loaded up and headed home. It was actually kind of fun and the kids loved playing in the rain, especially Andrew, who somehow wasn't cold and wanted to stay out and play for a while.
Sunday Dinner at Nana and Papa's plus a scavenger hunt for the kids with school supply prizes for all the kids about to finish summer and head back to school.

Ashley and Nate on the purple slide in the kiddie area. Nate loves this slide and wants to go again and again and again. This day Ashley brought her friend Ellie and Andrew brought Seth. We met up with the Sarah Johnsen and her youngest four kids too. The kids had a great day!

Worn Out!

Andrew tried out for the Blast Comp soccer team at the end of June. Blast only has one team per birth year. Andrew made the 2006 team and has practiced for about an hour and a half two nights a week through the summer. It is hard work but, he is doing great and likes it. The team is well established and hard work. None of his friends from school made the team, and most everyone is in 6th grade but, he is making some new friends and trying hard and learning a much more aggressive, physical and fast game of soccer.
We hosted our last movie night of the summer. It was a huge turnout of kids and everyone had a great time.

August might be my favorite month except that school starts way too early and ruins it. This was a happy August and we're so grateful for each day.
