We love our annual trip to Newport Beach! We left early Friday morning
Dinner at Panda Express next to the Angel's Stadium and then over to watch the game.
Ashley's wriggly tooth came out at the game! She didn't put it under her pillow at the hotel, she saved it for the beach house, hoping she'd get a sand dollar and she did.
We woke up, checked out of the hotel and headed to the beach for an overcast morning of fun.
The sun came out!
Katie all worn out.
The cousins came in later on Saturday
Church on Sunday
A little inappropriate teasing from Andrew in Joe's face while he's sleeping in Church.
After church we went to the Tide Pools in Laguna. The kids have a great time exploring, touching sea anemones and getting splashed by crashing waves.
And then our week of fun on the beach began. We rollerblade, stroller and scooter to the 15th Street playground a few mornings, boogie board, dig, build, play and have fun altogether all week long.
Ashley's good friend Roxy was there with her family the same week. A man with a giant bubble maker made for a fun activity one morning.
Andrew is developing a love for cool cars. He and Dave visited a couple of the fancy dealerships.
We also like to visit the newer playground across Balboa Blvd at about 18th Street.
Ashley and Lizzie love to play together every minute!

Katie worn out again :)
At night we love to walk the Pier and see the fisherman's catches. Behind the kids is a Sting Ray.
We headed over to Jack's and I remembered why I never take the kids shopping.

The kids started working on a sand castle but...
They all got bored except Hailey. She worked and worked on her own until she had it just right.

We were so grateful for a wonderful, happy week at the beach. We started our long drive home early Saturday morning.

Katie had been dancing around the living room to music most the summer pretending to be doing a dance recital. She puts on a costume and plays the same song almost each time. But, if anyone wants to watch she gets shy and mad and stops. She is timid to perform in any way and we want to encourage her to try and so we asked her if she'd let us come to her recital. After lots of days to think about it, and with Hailey happy to perform along side her, she said yes.
The rest of us sat on the couch and watched and oohed and awed. She skipped and danced around the living room while Hailey followed her lead. It might seem super silly but, it was a big deal to have Katie be in the spotlight and be able to feel comfortable with that attention.
We treated it just like a real recital. Daddy gave her flowers and candy and everyone cheered.
Afterwards all the kids danced around following Katie's lead, even Andrew. It was hilarious and fun and helped Katie learn to let loose a little bit.
July was wonderful! We are grateful for happy, summer days spent with family and friends.
