May 2017

Hailey started TBall at the Millcreek League. She had a really fun time and we were so proud of her. She could hit off the little machine pretty well, knew when and where to run, and went for the ball just right when she was in the field. She did awesome! Plus she looked super adorable in her baseball gear.
Nate tried to pour himself a cup of milk. Oops!
Ashley and Ivy getting Menchies after soccer team picture day.
Andrew and scouts practicing first aid. Andrew is in the neon green shorts.
Hailey ready to catch the ball!
Wahoo! Good Hit Hailey!
Ashley played softball this year at Holladay Lions. It was a great experience. None of her friends wanted or could join her but, she just wanted to play so she didn't care! The girls ranged in age from 8-12 so Ashley was young but, they were all beginning players so she did just great and enjoyed getting to know her teammates. She was able to learn all the field positions, even catcher. She hit the ball when she was up to bat nearly every time and she had such a great time! We were so proud of her for working so hard and being so brave!

This silly phone app made everyone laugh
Having fun helping with some yard work
Nate and Charlie emptying out all of the garage toys
I was a volunteer for the 4th grade Rendezvous Day. It's a big, fun day! I was at the pie eating contest station. My favorite part was when Andrew's group rotated to my station. He's a wonderful boy and I'm so lucky to have him.
A friend sent me these pics of Andrew at the slingshots and teepee.
Daddy helping Hailey get lined up to hit. Dave has a real talent for this. Whenever he lines her up she is sure to hit!
Go Hailey!
Andrew's soccer team. Some of these boys have been playing with Andrew on this same team since they were 4 and Michael Ivins has been coaching them the whole way.
It's a bad picture through a fence but, it's fun to see Ashley playing softball. Here she is at first base.
Ashley on the soccer field on the same day as her softball game. Having 2 sports games in one day is like heaven for this girl.
Nate is a great fan at all these games!
Hailey loves to play soccer. She plays hard! She gets right in there and is aggressive. She runs fast, scores goals, blocks kicks, has big kicks and has a serious look as she plays. If she falls she pops right back up. She loves her teammates and giggles and plays. When it's her turn to sit she is anxious to get back in.
Katie played on an indoor rec league soccer team this spring. She didn't really like it. For the first few games she didn't contribute much but, she got a little braver and started having lots of kicks and even a handful of goals!
Dave and Andrew having fun at a Jazz playoff game.
Ashley's bug discovery

Hailey got treated to a movie with her friend Lucy.

Andrew got his braces off. He had them put on right before 4th grade started and got them off right before school ended. He'll likely need them again in a few years. He is a handsome, sweet boy!
Nathan is an extra beautiful boy! Here he is enjoying some sprinkling spring rain.
These girls are each extra beautiful too A little rain and they were out having a blast.

The May Pull at Music Makers
Hailey loves to party, and loves to plan a party! Here she invited lots of friends over for a backyard playdate and playing with a giant worm she found.
Another park day! Ah, so nice!
Andrew went with Dave to Idaho for a basketball tournament. The team got slaughtered by much older, bigger, better competition but, Andrew had a lot of fun and it was a fun dad and son trip too. Andrew has the bright blue shirt under his jersey.
Look at the size of the kids in the blue jerseys! Haha.
Hailey and Katie having fun on the bounce house at the Upland Carnival.
 Ashley and her friend Becca.
More soccer for Katie. She's into it now, running, kicking and scoring some goals!
Hailey and Nate and the cutest fans!
Picture Day for the upcoming Dance Recital. Ashley and her only tap dance classmate, Olive.
Hailey made a bed in our room on the table. She is a cuddly girl and still loves to suck her left thumb if she has her beloved pink blanket.
Happy Mother's Day! These 5 make my mother's day so sweet with all their special gifts and love.
Having fun with a silly picture app
 Sunday Best
Hailey did a week of swim lessons in the Hackett's backyard and Nate loved jumping on their tramp and exploring their backyard.
Hailey had a Fairy Tale project in Mrs. Larson's kindergarten class. She chose The Little Red Hen. She worked hard on her booklet and map, and she was the cutest dog ever!
 Presenting to the class
Ashley playing catcher for softball. It was hard to start but, she totally got the hang of it and did great.
Ashley up to bat.
 Ashley playing first base.
 Nate loves sunglasses and shovels!
 Unpredictable spring weather!
 Hailey always dresses with pazazz.
Her favorite stuffed animal is still her little pug, Ginger.
 Haircut time for Nate
Andrew's last Pinewood Derby. His car won a few heats but, not enough to make it to the top. He did win best paint job.
Here are Andrew and good friends, James Bekker and Carson Stewart.
The annual Fun Run is each May. I think Andrew took about 5th place for boys, and overall. He did great! The race is one sprint around the perimeter of the school and it takes about 3-4 minutes for the fastest kids. He ran super fast! He gave it his best and we all felt proud of him.
Andrew is in the center in a red shirt.
Ashley's grade ready to race their fun run. Ashley is near the center in neon pink/orange.
Ashley is fast and she pushes herself too. She wants to keep up with and beat the fastest boys. This year she came in 4th overall and 1st for girls. She was just seconds behind each of the first 3 boys. The next girl finished about 30 seconds later. Nathan Jones is one of Ashley's best friends and he was first for boys. (The other 2 are both moving this summer, Daniel Jarman and Nathan Toone).
Hailey is a great runner too, just like her big brother and sister. Her race was for all the afternoon kindergarten kids and she tried her best and pushed herself. She was first place for girls! I think overall she was in the top 5 also.
Haddie, Hailey and Mollie. Hailey is a tiny thing in her grade, despite being old for her grade.
In the picture below, Hailey is about center in a pink jacket.
Baseball, baseball, baseball! Andrew is on the Angels this season. Jared Johnsen is the coach with Dad as the assistant. They play twice a week and had an undefeated season. Andrew was first batter in the lineup and played first baseman. He also pitched for half a game, in about half of the games.
Ready to run on second base.
 Nate is a great fan!
 Pitching!
 More baseball for Hailey too!
I didn't enough pictures at soccer this year. Here is one with Andrew in black to at least remember it happened. Andrew had another fantastic season with lots of goals, hard passes, assists, blocks and an overall good understanding and good play of the game. His team won all but one or two games and always had a great time.
Dance recital time! Here is Hailey ready in the dressing room.
Dad and Andrew coming with flowers. What gentlemen!
The girls did the exact same show 2 times, on a Saturday and Monday. Ashley was in 3 pieces for; ballet, jazz and tap. Hailey takes a ballet/tap combo class and was in one tap dance piece for the recital.
~
Ashley's Ballet Class. She is front row, 2nd from the left.
Ashley's Jazz Class. She is middle row, first on the right.
Ashley's Tap. Her class is just the 2 in black costumes but, their recital piece was combined with the older tap class in red. This was actually my favorite of her dances. Here she is front right.
 Hailey's ballet/tap class
They were each wonderful! They remembered to smile and knew their parts. They were super cute! Ashley doesn't love dance but she did love being in the recital. Hailey doesn't love going to dance class but, she likes it and she loved the recital too. They both loved the costumes and getting flowers and candy at the end.

The 4th grade State of Utah program. Andrew sang loud and happy. It was a very well done program and lots of fun to watch.
Hailey's kindergarten performed an amazing Opera with the help of Mrs. Larson. It turned out so well! Hailey did amazing with the singing and dancing and her line. She was so excited about it and the entire production was adorable!
Andrew's team won the championship game! They played hard! Andrew had a great season and was invited to be on the summer Allstar team. We're very proud and excited for him and his successes.
Andrew after the game with his friend Liam from our Canyon Rim ward.
 Upland Terrace Field Day!
I ran the 50 yard dash station. It was lots of fun and the kids all had a blast and got worn out.

We host 3 backyard movie nights each summer. The first one was on the last day of school. Each time I seem to say it was our most crowded movie night yet.
Andrew loves soccer and has a great talent for it. He is fast and accurate and has lots of success and fun!
Hailey loves soccer too. She is aggressive and plays hard!
Here are the official end of the season team photos:

We went with the Johnsen's to the play Pinkalicious at the Children's Theatre.
We had a fantastic time visiting our Warnock cousins in Herriman. My kids can't get enough of these big cousins.
Lots of neat papers came home at the end of the school year. It is so fun to see their writings and thoughts.
~
Hailey:
"I would ask him to give me a Genie and a stuffed animal and make them alive."
Ashley is an exceptional writer. Her handwriting is so neat, her sentences and thoughts are very nicely organized and her writing is interesting and fun to read. Her teacher this year was Mrs. Duff and she was an amazing teacher for Ashley. She taught her so much and motivated her to learn, grow and try everyday.
I hang most of the kids art in the kitchen for long time and then take it all down and start again every once in a while. They are creative and I love to see what they make.
 Lemonade stand on the corner

Hooray for May! It's a wonderful month to enjoy the fun and the warming of the weather. It's also a wonderful month to get through all the busy days and events. I'm always so grateful when school is out and May is over. Phew!
