March 2017

International Week at Upland Terrace ended with fun Brazilian dinner, entertainment and animals. The kids loved it so I was glad we went.
I can't get near snakes! I feel squirmy watching my brave, animal-loving Ashley.

Every trip to Upland Terrace is a trip to the playground. Kate and Nate never get bored of playgrounds.

This day we left the Upland playground and headed straight to the Canyon Rim Park playground. I think it was because the sun was finally out and we wanted to take advantage of a little warmth.

A big Friday after school play date at our house. Andrew had a handful of friends while the 3 girls each had one. They went crazy in our dress ups!
Andrew and his friends out of the silly costumes and playing basketball games. Andrew is in a blue t-shirt with his back to the camera.

A ski day for Hailey and Mom,

We had free pass for a tubing hill and took some of the cousins along too. Kate and Nate stayed at Nana's house (where the cousins live for now).

Getting pulled up the hill. Kim is the next tube. It was a fun and very cold night.

I got to chaperone for the Kindergarten field trip to the zoo. Here's Hailey with her friend Vivian K and a monkey too.

Hailey cuddling up on June's bed. It grosses me out for them to be on there but, they love it and don't seem to care.

 Walking to Music Makers class

Nate loves to vacuum, sweep, use tools and be a worker-man

Another day, another playground. This time the Evergreen library playground.

Here's some of the afternoon kindergarten girls waiting for class to start, plus cute Katie. And I spy sweet Nate back there too.

 Hailey the mermaid

It seems that the only one who doesn't get to use June's bed is June.
More skiing with Hailey

Sweet Hailey has been sucking her thumb and loving her pink blanket since she was an infant. She never sucks her thumb unless she has her blanket in hand. And she can't help but suck her thumb if she has her beloved blanket.

Watching William open birthday presents after Sunday dinner.

 Haircut time!

So handsome and he can see again!

Jazz Game Daddy-Daughter date night for Daddy and Katie!

Good Morning!

Playing at the Reid School

Hailey climbing Ashley's favorite climbing tree

Piano Recital Time.  Andrew played two pretty difficult songs and did an amazing job both introducing the songs/composers and also performing.

Ashley also did a wonderful job playing her song. I was so proud of both of them for their hard work, memorizing, performing and progress.

We celebrated with a trip to Menchies afterwards

Hailey's playgroup was at our house this week and it was wonderful to be able to play outside!

The kids set traps the night before St. Patrick's Day. Hopefully one of these years a trap will work and they'll catch a Leprechaun.
Alas, the Leprechauns came, made a mess, knocked over all the traps and left lots of treats and green foods without getting caught.

Hailey with her friend Ruthie S playing before afternoon Kindergarten.

Later that day we went to a Skate Park in Sugarhouse with several of Andrew's friends and their little siblings too. It was a blast!

Ashley was off with friends and we were glad when we got our cute girl home.

Katie was invited to a preschool friend's birthday party. It was a small, fancy party and she was so excited to be going.

Katie and the birthday girl, Jane. They made each girl one of these darling aprons Katie is wearing.

Holladay City park

I can't remember the occasion but, boy oh boy is Hailey a cute Princess...more like Queen.

June needed a trim. The groomer was terrible and shaved our fluffy dog into a poodle.
She looked so scrawny and no one even recognized her!  June was embarrassed and sulked for a couple of days.

Nana and Papa's for Sunday dinner. This set of pictures were all so cute I couldn't pick just one.

We drove up and then took a walk on the H rock road.

Hailey's tumbling showcase day
 Hailey, Harper and Lucy

Katie's showcase day too. She is always soo excited to go to tumbling.

Ashley is in 3rd grade and that means Science Fair. She chose the question: "Does Exercise Make You Stronger?". Each day for 10 days she did as many pushups and chin ups as she could plus measured her reach in straddle sit stretching. After 10 tens she proved her hypothesis correct because she could do several more of each.

I love Hailey's colorful clothing choices each day, and sometimes I just need a picture to capture her cute, individual style.

Ashley's tumbling showcase day. Poor girl had a big scrape right in the center of her forehead!

This tumbling coach taught all 3 girls this session.

Andrew bowling with his buddies. Andrew is too busy staring at Seth's phone to look up. Oh brother.

Hailey went to Clara Hinckley's PJ birthday party and came home with some pretty awesome face painting.

While Hailey was at the bday party I was home busy working away to finish packing for our Spring Break trip to Newport Beach and Disneyland! It was Friday around lunch when Hailey got home, and we pulled out a little after that. Our first stop was an awesome gas station somewhere between home and St. George. It has a playground! It's hard to sit in the car for so long but, the kids are good sports and don't complain.
We stayed in Barstow that night then woke up and finished the drive. The car was having some issues so the kids and I unpacked at the beach house and went to the beach while Dave went to a mechanic. Luckily it was an easy fix.

The beach isn't hot in March but, that only slowed the kids down a tiny bit. They loved getting right in and having fun!
For this trip we stayed at an old beach house right on the beach near 36th Street. I loved being right on the beach, it was so dreamy!

We visited the Tide Pools in Corona Del Mar on Sunday. But, the tide was so high there was nothing to see. So we went over to the Temple grounds and then came back an hour later.

The tide pools are always a favorite! This year we saw tons of sea anemones. Ashley was the first to touch one and feel it close up on her finger. Andrew and Hailey did it too once they'd seen that it was fun and safe.

Being right on the beach was so wonderful. The Farnsworths arrived a day after us. Here are kids playing out on the sand straight out from our charming, old, little beach house.

We went to California Adventure on Tuesday. It was a wonderful day and fun, fun, fun!

How fun to run into the Schmidt family! Andrew and Ty got to take a couple rides together.
At the end of the day the kids (except for Katie, Nathan and Charlie) rode the water ride over and over and over! Dave and Russ took turns going with them. They were soaked!
Wednesday was a beautiful beach day!

A visit to Pipeline for treats

On Thursday we braved Disneyland. It was also super fun but, Disney is so crowded that it can be harder. The kids had a great time! Hailey was at the most perfect age for Disneyland. She loved all the big kids rides and she also still loved all the kid rides. I felt like she was our hot potato. We were trying so hard to get her to every ride and switching her from kid rides to big rides all the time. She is so sweet and so much fun. She was excited about all of it. The other kids also loved it but, Andrew and Ashley really just stick to big rides while Katie and Nate stick to small rides so it was just extra fun to have a 6-year old in tow.

Nathan and Katie (and Charlie) met the Winnie the Pooh characters while the big kids were on a ride. Katie and Nate were both a little shy but brave and happy to go right up to them for a picture.

We got there before it opened and we were about the last people out of the park! Disney success!

Friday morning riding to Charlie's for breakfast.

And across the street to the newer playground on the water.

Spike Ball is super fun!

Down to the beach at night.

The flash was so bright they could hardly open their eyes.
We left early Saturday morning and drove all the way home before dinner. Spring Break 2017 was so good!
