October 2016 - Part 1

Hailey's soccer team is mostly girls with 2 boys. They can hold their own most games and are learning too. Hailey has a wild, talkative, fun personality in small groups or in big groups once she feels comfortable. She doesn't like being the center of attention for a large group. So, for soccer it is fun to see that she comes out of her shell and runs hard and gets in there. This particular game everyone commented that she was just on fire! She was very aggressive and played fantastic. It was fun to watch and cheer her on as she worked so hard.

Sweet Nate loves to climb, like most kids. He sure was happy to play on the ladder in the garage while Daddy was getting down the Halloween decoration buckets. Nate's darling features, beautiful (and always ready) smile and white hair are so over-the-top cute. I can't get enough!
Andrew is playing Flag Football this year with neighborhood friends. He really has a talent for it, so it's too bad that Flag Football isn't a real sport. He really excels at running the ball, catching the ball, and pulling flags on defense. Besides all that, he's just a really great kid who is a nice friend, a hard-working teammate, and so fun to be with.
And so handsome!

Nate chasing down Katie for a hug. This is after her soccer game was over and while we were cheering Ashley on at her game.

On Conference Sunday we went for a drive up Big Cottonwood Canyon, then through Guardsman Pass and down through Parley's Canyon. We made several stops to see the amazing Fall colored leaves and views but, it was colder than we'd expected so we weren't dressed warmly enough to stay out of the car very long. It was beautiful and a fun way to listen to Conference too.
Ashley is always exploring and looking for adventure!

These 3 cuties make every morning fun.

Hailey likes to pick out her own outfits and it's fun to see what she does. Somedays it can turn out pretty wild and other days she just looks adorable, like this.

And this outfit she likes to wear the coordinating top and bottom and she looks super cute in it.

Worker Man Nate loves to spray the hose!

Katie's last soccer game was October 8th. Dave was the fill-in coach for the day! Katie had an awesome game and got a goal!

Ashley plays so hard! Her team is pretty bad so she has to make up the difference. She plays forward but, her coach doesn't have her stay in that position, she needs to run back and help defense, and then come back up. She runs and runs and runs and runs. She is aggressive, fast and impresses us each week.

Walking home from Wednesday morning Music Makers at the ward. We like music makers a lot.

Meeting a new dog on our street. These kids are all dog lovers.

Andrew had an awful experience. He went with Dave to costco and got a Churro at the end. When he was finished eating it he tipped the paper wrapper up to dump the extra sugar and cinnamon into his mouth. He didn't notice but, some of that sugar and cinnamon fell into his right eye. Later that night his eye really started to bother him, and it got worse and worse. We tried to flush it out with water but it didn't help. He went to bed and we hoped by the morning it would feel better. But, the next morning it still hurt. It was uncomfortable to even keep his eye open! Dave took him to instacare. The doctor looked at his eye using a dye and said it was filled with the cinnamon. Andrew had to sit with his eyes closed, with a contact in his eye that continually flushed clean water in, for 15 minutes. He was incredibly calm and brave about the whole thing. At the end he felt good as new. We are so grateful for modern medicine and access to it!

Haircut for this boy. He had some rough and tumble scratches.

Andrew and Dave went to a Football game and had a great time!

The girls had a late over with friends at home. Ashley had a handful of friends and Hailey and Kate had Haddie and Wrenly Chipman. They were so fun.

After Church

Hailey lost her second tooth! This time she wanted a Beanie Boo stuffed animal insutead of money. She wrote this letter to the tooth fairy all on her own. Corrected it says, "I love you, Dog, Bee, Beanie Boo, Cat, Butterfly, Owl, Lion."

A few times Nate and June have gone to play and I've looked out the window to see them playing together. June is very good to him.

Crazy Hair and Sock Day at school

Hailey playing vet on a real dog.

Crazy hair and sock day for this afternoon kindergartner too!

I spy cute Nathan!

 Grocery Shopping with our crew

After school

Ashley and Hailey both chose cowboy boots to wear school. After school I had to get a picture of that cuteness.

The Upland Terrace Fun Run is each Fall. This is the school's fundraiser. The kids run as many laps as they can in 20 minutes. This year the length of a lap was shorter than the year before. Ashley's grade was first for our family. She is a great runner and also competitive. She and 2 of her friends, Mac and Nathan, ran together the entire time and they each ran the most by far, with 18 laps each! I was amazed at how long, fast and hard she could run!
Ashley, Nathan and Mac

Andrew's grade was next. Andrew also is a great runner. He got a side ache about half way through but he didn't stop. He pushed through it and kept running. For much of the race he and 2 friends were running together and had the most laps, then one of those friends stopped and Andrew and Landon H ran together the rest of the race. They never stopped and they ended up with 20 laps each! It was so amazing. Way to go!

After the fun run the grades each took a picture with these props. Here's the 4th graders. YOLO means You Only Live Once. It was red ribbon week and they talked about being drug free because you only live once, so make your life great.

Last was Hailey's class. Hailey isn't very competitive but she sure had the drive this day!. She wanted to run hard for the fun run! She ran 11 (or maybe 12 laps, each time they run a lap they get a marker marking on their wristband. On Hailey I couldn't tell if it was 11 or 12 for sure)! That was an incredible number of laps for her age. It was for sure the most of any of the girls and probably the most of any of the boys too. She ran and ran. A couple times she walked for a minute but always started running again. I was super proud! She also had time to give high fives to the older kids watching.

 Harper, Lucy and Hailey afterward

After watching so many races Nathan and Kate deserved some playground time!

The kids made this creation and thought it was great. As a mom I wasn't so impressed considering the clean up after.

Nate loves Junie

Andrew had his last game of Flag Football in mid October. It was their hardest game yet against a skilled team. Andrew's team won 2 touchdowns to 1. For the first touchdown, Andrew caught a pass and ran it in. Then for the second touchdown Andrew took the hike like quarterback and then ran it the whole way. He also had a great defensive game. If there was a player of the game it would be Andrew. Andrew played well all season with lots and lots of great runs, catches, touchdowns and flag pulling. His team was undefeated all season and had a great time!

Coach was Jared Johnsen. Then top row, left to right: A kid I don't know, Davis, Andrew, Simon
Bottom row, left to right: Ezra, Job, Landon H, Luke C and Charlie P

Hailey at a soccer game. She sure is beautiful!

We were lucky to go to Josh Nielsen's parents on a Saturday afternoon after soccer games for a horse back riding. Dave's high school friends and their families were all there too. Ashley can't get enough of the horses and Hailey and Andrew like it almost as much. They take turns riding a horse and then switching around. It's such a fun experience. Kate was too nervous to try this year and preferred the playground and Nate sat on a horse for a minute but mostly liked playing in the yard and playground with Kate.

Ashley's horse stopped to pee for the longest time as they were leaving the corral. It was so funny. Ashley curled her feet way up and laughed!

After Church. These kids are so beautiful, inside and out. They keep me so busy and drive me a little crazy but, I thank God for them every single day.

An impromptu Tea Party care of Miss Hailey Elizabeth. Her dogs were the perfect guests and of course Miss Katie Madeline and Mommy were invited too.

Hailey's outfit choice for soccer practice

Ashley wore this cute hand-me-down outfit to school. I think it's cute but, apparently it fits her too loose and her classmates asked her why she was wearing pjs!

Kate's turn for a Jazz game date night with Daddy. She was so excited to go and loved it!

I just love Hailey's cuteness

Coming to pick Hailey up from her dance class. She doesn't love dance class but she likes it
Nate loves glasses!
Ashley loves to write. She could go on and on. Here is a 'How-To' piece she did in class that is lots of fun to read.
