Soccer and Football

Another great season of Fall soccer started and ended in a blink. Ashley loves playing with her soccer team. No matter what, she is having fun, running, smiling, getting in there and loves to play. She had a goal in the first game and had a few other close ones and many, many great kicks in other games.

Andrew played Flag Football again this Fall and Dave coached. What a difference a year makes. Last year they were confused, timid, lost most the time and Dave hated coaching them. This year they listened, played hard, won every game and Dave liked coaching a lot. Andrew did well running the ball and had many touchdowns over the season. He was best at defense though and pulled flags over and over again. Some teams got smart and wouldn't run the ball his direction.
Andrew's age division started playing with goalies in this soccer season. The scores of the games have gone way down. They also try to play positions now too.
Andrew loves playing soccer and loves his team full of friends. In the past he's always scored so many goals and had so many blocks but, this year we noticed that he doesn't trust his teammates. For example, if he is a forward, it's very hard for him to stay as a forward because he wants to make sure the defenders don't let a goal in. But, now the field is much bigger, so even though he's a fast runner, when he tries to run all the way back to help the defenders, he isn't in position as a forward and can't score.

Game 1: Andrew had 1 goal. They lost 4 to 2. Game 2: Missed it for his Baptism Day. Game 3: Andrew had 1 goal. Won 2 to 0. Game 4: Andrew had 3 goals. Won 4 to 3. Game 5: Andrew had 0 goals, won 2 to 0. Game 6: Andrew had 2 goals, won 4 to 3. Game 7: Andrew had 1 goal, won 4 to 1. Game 8: Andrew had 0 goals, won 2 to 1. He did great with 8 goals (of the teams 20) and lots of fun!
