This year we spent Memorial Day weekend in Park City. We were late in pulling any plans together and hotels in the popular Southern Utah spots were filled up and we decided to head to Park City instead. We left after school on Friday. The kids are used to the idea that they get to watch a movie in the car for trips but, they were not used to arriving at the destination only 15 minutes later. That was awesome.

We stayed at a hotel with a fun indoor pool and our room had a sliding door that opened right up onto the pool patio. That was the best part for sure. The big kids could swim and swim and the little girls could walk in and out of the room and pool as much as they wanted and I could watch them all so easily.

When we got there Friday night we first went swimming, then the cousins came up and joined us for dinner at a Pizza place on Main Street, and then more swimming with the cousins too, then to bed. Katie had such a rough night and was crying for 2 hours! The next morning Dave and I were so tired and grumpy but, we ate breakfast, went to the Olympic Park, Alpine Slide area, then swimming. That night we ate dinner at a different Main Street Pizza restaurant, then swimming, then to bed. Dave decided to take Katie home to sleep that night and they drove back up to join us Sunday for breakfast, then we headed home. It was a fun, fast getaway and like every simple trip, the kids loved it.

Hailey warms up to new things slowly. She was nervous about the hotel pool most the weekend but, when we went swimming again in Salt Lake the next week she was a wild woman.
Katie doesn't like pools so she didn't even get in but, she had fun throwing things in.
Swimming with the cousins. They had a blast! Not sure why this phone picture has such green, scary water!
Saturday morning started out rainy and chilly. We went to the Olympic Park first. The kids wanted a picture next to these guys.
There is a virtual "ride" there that Andrew and Ashley were tall enough to try
The clouds broke and we rushed to the Alpine Slide area.
While we waited, Hailey and I watched this guy who lives at the base of the lift.
Dave and Ashley came down fast and happy
Poor Andrew. He is too tall to ride with someone but, not nearly big enough to keep the lever pushed down hard and get much speed. He was trying as hard as he could but, he came down slow and bored.
Dave took Andrew on the Alpine Coaster (which is super fast and fun) and they had a great time, while Ashley, Katie and I watched Hailey go on the carousel. She loves small things and carousels. She picked the smallest animal there was. Don't judge me for her BYU socks and sandals, at the time it wasn't worth a battle.
Katie hadn't slept much the night before and was sad all morning.
Ashley and I loved the coaster too.
It was so fast and we all voted that it is much more fun than the Alpine Slide.
We were home on Sunday night and had our own family dinner and visited Dave's grandparent's graves.

Monday we took a morning trip to the zoo to see the new lions, then swam at the neighbors pool in in the hot afternoon and then had a family bbq and baseball night at Canyon Rim Park. It was a great weekend!
Two more Memorial Weekend Gems:
Andrew has a lot of Price in him but, he has a lot of Warnock too
These cuties come up with some fun games
