We packed the first few weeks of August with fun, like all of summer really. The school year started too early this year; on August 17th! I felt like we were being robbed of too many August days.
Having a new puppy was so fun. Kate was a little timid of the puppies at first. It made me grateful to have gotten a dog because after a week or two she had become completely comfortable with our dog, and that made her feel good about neighbor dogs too. Nate also got used to her quickly. We have been shocked how many little kids are terrified of even our fluffy, little puppy.
Andrew got braces on his top 4 teeth. He will have them on for about 9 months.
A playdate at our house.
Andrew had Charlie, Luke C and Job (plus Simon),
Ashley had Nathan J, Hailey had Jemima and Kate had Jerusha
Home from a swim day
Zoo day with the Cousins
The Ivins came home and this is the last morning we got to have Boomer. Ashley was so sad to let him go. She woke up early with me so she could make sure to see him off since we was picked up early. She cried a little bit and missed him but, was so glad to have her own puppy to stay.
Tennis Lessons!
Kate and Mom Selfies during swimming at the neighbors with a blurry camera!
Ashley
A trip to the Splash Pad. We met up with my college friends Sarah and Michelle while Sarah was in town and Michelle came up from Highland.
Michelle's daughter Elle and my always friendly and fun Ashley
We went straight from the Splash Pad to Upland Terrace for Open House day to see what teachers everyone got. Andrew will be in 4th grade and he got Mrs. Hamula, new this year, with almost all his favorite friends. She is a happy, kind, calm teacher and highly educated. Ashley will be in 3rd grade and she got Mrs. Duff with lots of friends, Mrs. Duff is amazing and ambitious, and one of the best teachers I can imagine. Hailey got Mrs. Larsen who Ashley had and we loved, she is such a wonderful teacher and just the nurturing, happy, encouraging, calm teacher Hailey needs.
More playing at home. With a new puppy we had to have a certain amount of at home time.
Hailey and Jemima
Bounce House!
Four square with Dave too
We went to Cowabunga Bay and brought some cousins too. Right when we arrived in the parking lot it was a massive, loud, cold hail storm! Everyone in the park ran for cover and left. We sat in the cars for about 15 minutes to see if it would pass. Sure enough, blue skies and sunshine were back and we went in. It was a Saturday but there were hardly any people and no lines!
All the hail had been piled into one area. It was strange weather!
Will and Hailey
June and Hawkeye on a Sunday evening
More tennis! These kids love to play tennis. I wish I knew how to fit it in during the school year.
A trip to Cherry Hill. Ashley brought her friend Becca along and Andrew brought Seth.
Kate dancing!
Daddy and Hailey
Ashley and Becca
June came along for a neighbor swim and we even put her in. She can swim but she was in a panic and didn't like it. Then, she's so skinny when she's wet she looks like a Chihuahua and has to be wrapped up and warmed.
Another Cowabunga Bay day. Nate sleeping on my lap. What a sweetie.
Andrew brought James B and Ashley brought Grace S
I love Hailey sneaking up from the back.
Nate figured out that honey is yummy!
Water bounce house day for Andrew and Seth
Hailey the Ninja Turtle. She loves to dress up and changes quick as can be.
Hailey, Mary and Kate
We used our little plastic volcano with vinegar and baking soda. It's always fun.
Kids are so busy. They were straight to a Lemonade Stand on the corner.
Watering the Plants
Nate loves to go in and on June's kennel. It kind of grosses me out but, he sure is happy.
Best brothers
One more week of swim lessons with Alexa.
Hailey set up a tent in the backyard then ended up taking a nap in it. Summer can't be beat.
Our last backyard movie night of the summer.
Fishing was on our summer to-do list so we headed up one afternoon. Papa came too. It was windy and we didn't catch any fish (or even see one) but, we had fun.
I caught these 3 sisters holding hands on our walk. I hope they can be best friend sisters forever.
Hawkeye and June. June drives poor old Hawkeye crazy I think but, he likes her too.
A quick stop at one of our favorite parks
Andrew and Ashley working on their backwards climbing
Ashley has beautiful, long hair. She loves having it long. We made a deal that we could get a nice trim for the new school year. She had several inches cut off but, it's still so long, so she's happy.
The big kids were with friends so Hailey got to invite Stella to come swim with us.
School starts tomorrow. What a bummer for a mom.
We celebrated our wonderful summer with a trip for Snow Cones.
