Happy 9th Birthday Andrew!
Andrew is wonderful. He made me a mom and I've been grateful for that everyday since. He is smart, funny, talented, sweet, adorable, handsome, happy, aware, active, ticklish, cool, still cuddly, and the best big brother. This year he is Nerf Gun obsessed and most his gifts were Nerf
This year his birthday was on a regular school day Tuesday. We had celebrated with cousins two days earlier on Sunday. Our birthday traditions include a backyard movie night with friends and neighbors, which he had a little early and had a great time at. Plus our 'picture wall' with pictures of the birthday child from birth up. Andrew's is 9 years worth and a huge collection and I'm not sure where to put it going forward.

On his birthday he woke up and opened presents before school. He took a birthday snack to share with his class at school. After school he had a regular 2 hour football practice and I brought popsicles to share at the end of practice. So it was sort of business as usual with some fun extras. His birthday party with friends was a Nerf Party 10 days later (we delayed because of Labor Day).

Summer still in full swing for these two beauties. Too bad the big kids have to be at school and miss the fun. The weather was still hot and perfect and we miss Andrew and Ashley terribly each day.
Nate loves to pull up to stand. He loves to stand up and climb up on anything he can.
Andrew's first real football game. They got crushed by a much bigger, much better team. In August and September Andrew enjoyed Football practice, even though it was 4 times a week for 2 hours each. He enjoyed the conditioning because he excelled at it. He hated the hitting at practice and even more during games. He showed all season that he had an excellent read of where the ball was going and where he should be but, he avoiding tackling all season too. By October he no longer wanted to go. He did go each and was happy afterwards but, never really fell in love with the sport.

Hailey started her last year of preschool! She is going to Ms. Palmer this year with friends Stella, Laney and Haddie. She goes in the morning 2 times a week for 3 hours each day. Ms. Palmer teaches out of her darling home with two of her daughters and it is sweet, nurturing, organized and fun. It is very close the the elementary school too.
This is Hailey's 3rd year of preschool. She has a tricky birthday; August 30th. She was due September 4th but I was induced because I had tested positive for Group B Strep and needed to be given 4 hours worth of antibiotic during labor. It can be harmless but it can cause problems and I felt anxious to make sure she was safe. Ashley's birth was so fast that the anesthesiologist came into the room and delivered her minutes after we had arrived. I have wished that Hailey's birthday was in September ever since, because nobody wants to be the youngest in their class but, nobody want to feel they were held back either. I knew I would start her in school late, the day she was born. Besides all of that, she is tiny! She is social, happy and fun but, she starts shy. Many have told me that you'll never regret sending a child to school late but, you may regret sending them young. For me, that has been very true.

So, I started her as the youngest at Holladay preschool with kids who would be a grade above her (with Clara and Mary), the next year she went to Miss Dana, again with kids the grade above her (with Rachel). They had a height chart and she was the shortest by a lot! This year she is one of the oldest in her class, as she will be, and still very, very petite. But, she is thriving and happy!

She came home happy and excited to go back. She loved the name hat she wore at school. She had soccer practice that night and looked stylish as always.
Hailey was the 3rd kid to bring her birthday snack to share at preschool because other kids are old like her too, She was so excited to get a birthday crown!

The boys had the best time! It was an easy party too! I set up tables, a few balloons and target pictures, gave each boy an orange or green tie for teams and let them run wild. I brought a gazillion bullets and about 10 extra guns for anyone who needed one. They they just ran around shooting each other and had a ball. Every once in a while we'd switch the teams or switch the game a bit but for the most part it just moved along. (With the exclusion of 2 boys being hit in the eye with nerf bullets and needing breaks). I had planned a few specific games but, they were so easy that I didn't even need to do them.

He had 34 friends there! Wahoo! What a party! Ashley came for about half until she left with a friend for tumbling. Cousin Will came for about half too. Nana came to babysit Hailey, Kate and Nathan at our house, which was huge help!

It was a very happy birthday for a very wonderful boy!
That night Dave took Andrew and Ashley to the Ute game. Cousin Joe was in the next seat and they loved every minute!
