Andrew was invited to be on the Millcreek Baseball All Stars Team after the regular season was over. We were really proud of him for being selected and even more proud of him with how well he did. The team was made up of 11 boys. I think 1, 2, or 3 were selected from each of the regular season teams. They went from playing coach pitch/TBall with no outs straight to machine pitch with outs and serious play. Our team had three great coaches and they practiced 3 times a week for 2+ hours to get ready for the tournaments.

We missed the entire first tournament being on a trip to the beach (so worth it). When we got back we were so happy Andrew would have a chance to play in some real games at the State Tournament in Farmington. His first game was really hot and he had to quickly learn a few new rules. His team lost but, we were thrilled that Andrew did so well. He hit the ball each time he was up to bat and made a run each time too. For the first inning he played catcher, (which he loved because you get to touch the ball so much), to give him a chance to sort-of watch play and then he did great playing 2nd base most of the rest of the tournament. The second game was even better. It had cooled down and our team won 21-10, Andrew hit the ball each at bat and again, managed to make it home each time too with some good luck and his fast running. He also fielded the ball really well and tagged some runners out too.
After those 2 games the coaches awarded a game ball to the key player. Andrew got the game ball from the second game! He was so excited and proud of himself! The next day he had another hot game against Olympus, which was a really good team who had won the whole tournament the week before. Millcreek lost but, we were really proud of them! Again, Andrew hit every single time up at bat and made it home every time too, which is just not the norm. Over those three games I think he was up 8+ times and made it home each time (though once it didn't count because our team got it's 3rd out immediately after he'd crossed the plate but, since I don't understand that rule I still count it as a run :)
Andrew loved Allstars and was pretty sad to have it come and go so quickly. Way to go Andrew and way to go Millcreek!

We didn't have Tommy do All stars this year but I bet you played our team...they mentioned playing the Olympus team. Next time you should come cool of at our house, it is seriously a three minute car ride to the Farmington fields! Hope you survived today.
